HTC Desire 601 Android 4.4, Sense 5.5 update rollout commences

Following yesterday’s release of Android 4.4 for the HTC Droid DNA, HTC Singapore has announced that the Android 4.4.2, Sense 5.5 update is now available for the HTC Desire 601 as well. Since Android 4.4.2 (KitKat) is optimized to be more efficient on lower-end handsets, the Desire 601 should see a bit of a performance boost along with new Bluetooth profile and a few other system tweaks. While getting a new version of Android is always nice, most of the update’s new features come bundled in the Sense 5.5 update. After the update is installed, HTC Desire 601 users will be treated to a new version of BlinkFeed, redesigned Gallery and Music apps and tweaks to lock screen widgets.

The Android 4.4.2, Sense 5.5 update for the HTC desire 601 is currently being pushed to handsets in Singapore, but owners of the phone in other regions should also see the update hit their devices in the coming weeks. We also expect the Virgin Mobile HTC Desire to receive the update sometime this summer. HTC could always improve it’s turnaround time on its software updates, but it’s encouraging to see that HTC is working hard to bring the latest version of Android and newer Sense 5.5 features to its mid-range Desire lineup.

    1. If you’re used the official HTCDev bootloader unlock process – yes, you can still download and install the update. However, the update will not install is you’re loaded a custom bootloader on your phone. If that’s the case, you will need to wait for a ROM developer to create a custom ROM with the lastest Android update for the Desirei 601.

  1. If I sim unlock the virgin mobile version would I be able to receive the update still

    1. Yes ,I have received update now,but I cannot install.Installation is aborted.How can I try?

  2. July 3, 2014- HTC desire 601 for Virgin mobile USA just finished upgrading to Android 4.4.2 and Sense 5.5.

  3. So I have the update 4.4.2 and it’s cool but my volume sucks what’s the problem with that. I’m use to having a party at work with my phone
