Video shows off HTC Sense 6 motion launch gestures, customization options, updated apps

The all new HTC One has been in the news quite a bit lately, but for a much as we know about the handset’s hardware, it’s new software features have mostly been a mystery. We’ve known that HTC would be using on-screen buttons for the first time and that the UI would be getting a little flatter, but a leaked video of HTC Sense 6  has surfaced, giving us decent tour of the updated software, showing off customization options and the new Motion Launch gestures.

Below are the highlights we spotted in the video. HTC Sense 6 isn’t as transformative as HTC Sense 5 was, but it’s definitely an improvement over the latest version of Sense that’s currently running on the HTC One. If you find anything that we missed, be sure to share it in the comments below.

HTC Sense 6 features/differences

  • HTC’s gallery, dialer and messaging apps have a flatter, more modern style
  • Themes are back, changing the wallpaper and the color of menu items in settings
  • Desktop and lockscreen wallpapers are separated again
  • Font style settings include Default, Helvetica and LCD
  • App drawer no longer displays weather and time information
  • Motion Launch gestures include:
    • double tap to wake
    • swipe left to wake and launch widget panel
    • swipe right to wake and launch BlinlFeed
    • swipe up to wake
    • hold volume button in landscape mode to wake and launch camera app

  1. Loving the addition of theming and changing font options, as it is one of very few things I miss about my old Sammy S2 which I had running GoLauncherEx ditching awful touchwiz. Good work HTC!!! Looking forward to picking up a gold One 2014. My HTC One is the best phone I’ve ever owned and the additions inside and out make it just about perfect…

  2. This is not ahead of its time, IMO. LG and Samsung have both had these features for awhile. LG is number one for customization if you ask me. That’s just my opinion.

    1. LG’s software does look customizable.. I just can’t get myself used to having “an LG” …. I will always think of refrigerators when I hear LG.
