HTC One Android 4.4.2 update rolling out across Western Europe

The Android 4.4.2 update for the HTC One is now available for unlocked (and a few carrier branded) devices across multiple countries in Western Europe. For far, we’ve received confirmation from HTC One owners in France, Switzerland, the Netherlands, the UK (unlocked, Vodafone, O2, Three), Greece, Cyprus and Spain which have successfully downloaded and installed the update.

The HTC One update includes NFC Tap & Pay, cloud printing, Bluetooth profiles from Android 4.4.2 along with minor bug fixes and security enhancements. But the real improvements are tucked in HTC Sense 5.5 which features enhancements to BlinkFeed, Video Highlights, camera improvements, and keyboard which now includes hundreds of emoji. If you have not yet received an update notification on your HTC One, go to Settings > About Phone > Software update > Check now to manually ping HTC’s update servers.

Sound off in the comments and let us know how you like your HTC one with all the new Android 4.4.2 and Sense 5.5 features.

  1. And I am back you can check more or less it took time.

Bless Samsung S5 we got it to prove HTC done first KitKat than Samsung for S4.

  2. Updated my HTC One last night from 4.3 to 4.4.2 and its just amazing. Overall performance is much better than jelly bean. Battery time is improved and camera shutter lag is almost zero. Thanks HTC!

  3. OK, so I’m in the UK and downloaded yesterday. The first thing I wanted to was change from DALVIC to ART runtime. Went into developer options & it seems, according to XDA, you can’t do that on sense roms. Other than that, no other big changes because the UK got sense 5.5 with the 4.3 update. So only other big change is, Adobe Flash is completely removed from Kit-Kat. Not a problem for everyone, but for me watching my sports streams is a major loss. No biggy, I can just side load my saved APK file. It doesn’t work! In the end, I read on XDA developers that you need a hacked version &, so far, it only works in dolphin browser. Well, I only use Dolphin pretty much so that works just fine…

  4. Be aware google+ used over 2Gb data allowence on vodafone. Got text and after 5 minutes another text that 250Mb when phone was on wifi and wifi only.

Couldnt get understanding from vodafone customer service.
They think is customer’s problem. Well this is why loosing users in UK and Europe. And charge 6£ on “vip” contract for every 250Mb.

      1. I’m on 4.3

I just checked for the update and it is there now.

        I’ll update later today.

  5. Update to 4.4.2 left me with a phone which cannot detect any WiFi network – terrible update! Not even factory reset and cache clean helped. SO DISSAPOINTED!
