Credible HTC M8 picture reveals handset’s front side

We’re going to be honest with you, we’re sick and tired of seeing HTC M8 leaks every other day. Since the beginning of February, there have been at least six different pictures that have been circulating the web, claiming to show off the front of back of the HTC M8. We have not posted every single image since we like to shield you from the ones which we know are obviously fake. With that in mind, the latest HTC M8 leak is probably real and gives us a very clear look as the front of the phone. The overall look of the HTC M8 is inspired by the HTC One, but there are a few distinct design differences which set the two phones apart.

First, the font-facing speakers on the HTC M8 are no longer symmetrical since the ambient light and proximity sensors have been moved from the left to align with the front-facing camera. Second, the HTC M8 does not have the same chamfered edges as the HTC One. Instead, the image shows the glass and aluminum plates on the front of the M8 are enclosed by the thin lip around the edge of the phone. This design change matches the original HTC M8 image leak from 2013 which showed the back and sides of the HTC M8 shell as a single, removable piece.

While we’re not keen on the a-symmetrical front-facing speakers, the inclusion of the HTC logo below the display of the M8 is the one thing that pushes us over the edge. What reason would HTC have to move to on-screen buttons if they are not going to remove the space that was previously used for capacitive button? the HTC One with its 4.7-inch display is already larger than most android phone with 5-inch display. We sincerely hope that the image we’re looking at here is an testing prototype and does not fully represent the final form factor of the HTC M8.
