Update: Verizon begins HTC Droid DNA Android 4.4 certification testing

With AT&T rolling out the Android 4.2.2 update for the HTC One X and the announcement that HTC won’t be able to meet its self-imposed HTC One Android 4.4 roll-out deadline, we somehow missed the fact that Verizon has started certification testing for the HTC Droid DNA’s Android 4.4 update.

Last time we heard anything official from HTC regarding the DNA’s Android 4.4 update was back in November when @HTC responded to a random Twitter question, saying that the update would be pushed out before the end of Q1. Since then, the HTC Droid DNA has been updated to Android 4.2 with HTC Sense 5. We suspect Verizon is under strict instructions from HTC to focus its certification efforts solely on the HTC One until the update for that phone is pushed out, so don’t expect to see the Android 4.4 update for the HTC Droid DNA until mid to late February.

UPDATE: we’ve just heard from our contact at HTC that the Droid DNA’s Android 4.4 update status was changed by mistake. The Droid DNA’s KitKat update is still in the “Integration” stage at this point. HTC has updated the page to reflect the correct status.
