Android 4.4 KitKat update coming to all US HTC One devices within 90 days

If you have not heard, Google released its Android 4.4 KitKat update today. Since the HTC One has just received its Android 4.3 update, you might think that it’ll be months before HTC is able to  push out the update to its flagship device. While some devices will have to wait up to three months, HTC’s Jason Mackenzie has revealed that all US variants of the phone will be updated to KitKat within the next 90 days.

The HTC One Google Play Edition will be updated to a stock version of Android 4.4 within 15 days, followed by the Developer Edition and unlocked models which are currently scheduled to receive the update within 30 days. All other US carrier branded models of the HTC One will receive the KitKat update within 90 days. Devices which are currently running HTC Sense 5 will receive Sense 5.5 when the Android 4.4 update rolls out.

“we’re not going to [roll out updates] in a lazy fashion. We’re going to make it a priority to have every dot release out on the One within 90 days.”

  1. Good, but what about HTC One X+? when will get Android 4.4? or HTC not thinking about older phones any more!!,,, it’s a shame actually when samsung galaxy s3 get android 4.3 and htc one x+ didn’t get it which by the way not good as the HTC ONE X+

    1. She didn’t say the One X won’t be updated, but older phones will have to wait more. Htc one had 4.2 more than a month before S4.

      1. I think it is ridiculous to call the HTC One X+ a old phone. I for example can buy for 700 every half year a new phone.

  2. The biggest problem now is that IPhones get updated and Androids do not. Here’s hoping that HTC does rectify this bad situation. My One-S I know I give up on, but my One, NOT. It SHOULD be as good as an IPhone regarding OS updates.
