HTC: carrier release of HTC One Android 4.3 update “will slightly miss 9/30”

We knew was too good to be true when HTC President Jason Mackenzie promised that all US and Canadia versions of the HTC one would be updated to Android 4.3 before the end of September. While the unlocked and Developer Editions started receiving the update yesterday, it seems carrier branded phones will not recevie the update by the self-imposed deadline.

The news was delivered via Jason Mackenzie’s Twitter account earlier this afternoon. No additional details have been posted, just Jason promised he would “keep u updated…” as soon as he has more information to share. While it’s disappointing that HTC was not able to push the update through carrier approval quicker, we do appreciate the open dialogue HTC is having. We should also give HTC credit for being the first OEM to push out the Android 4.3 update (yes, HTC also beat Samsung to the punch with the 4.3 rollout to its Google Play edition phone).

  1. Thanks for the updates. I like the fact that HTC is keeping the public up to date. Let’s you knew that they are listening.

  2. And who really thought the US carriers would really have it by the end of September anyways? I laughed when I read that. The US carriers and swift updates do not exist in the same universe. They exert entirely too much control over what gets put on the devices we buy. But thats another topic. Good on you HTC for getting the update out.

  3. Today, Oct 1, on Telus…Vancouver BC Canada…just got my 4.3 update. Installed and working fine!
