HTC may see a loss in Q3 despite HTC One outselling company’s 2012 flagship devices

Earlier this month, we learned that HTC had managed to pull in $41.63 million in profits during the second quarter. The number want’s that shocking since HTC had nearly suffered a loss during Q1, but HTC’s new guidance for Q3 shows that the company isn’t out of the woods yet. Due to “relatively higher cost structure, lack of economy of scale and certain provisions needed to facilitate the clearance of aging products in the channel” HTC is projecting a Q3 operating margin of 0% to -8% on $1.67 billion to $2 billion in revenue.

HTC’s projections for Q3 are not reassuring, but they were accompanied by the news that HTC One sales are tracking ahead of HTC’s hero products (HTC One X and HTC One S) from last year. The company has also seem market share increase in China and will be releasing “a range of innovative and competitive mid-tier products in the coming months” which will help HTC regain its foothold in Q4.

“My leadership team continues to focus on execution. We are seeing expected results as we fill the channels and meet demand for the new HTC One. As we broaden our focus to include a new member of the HTC One family, the recently announced One mini, we are looking forward to delivering great products and results in 2H.”

    1. Updates are a problem with all company’s. It is not HTC related.

  1. I don’t see a problem. They only have to launch a 7 inch killer phone in the line of the HTC One with front speakers. With at least 2 GB internal and 64 GB or option for micro-sd. I will never buy a device with 32 GB without micro-sd option.

  2. I have the 32 gb HTC one. I’m very happy with it. I’ve used HTC phones basically since they came out. HTC one is the top phone in the world right now. It even bumped the gs4 to second spot. HTC is and will continue to make the best smart phones. But then again it is all about opinions and what your needs are in a smartphone. My opinion HTC ONE KICKS ASS PERIOD. HTC is going to do just fine now and in the future…

    1. How about making a movie and taking pictures and playing games like batman, shine runner, predators, n.o.v.a.3 and 2,Horn, Inertia HD,Ice Age, Ferrari GT,Dark Medow, Beach Buggy etc. etc. I am using about 80 procent of my 64 GB on my HTC One X+. (And I don’t have a movie on it at the moment)I do almost everything with my phone. Play the piano or guitar. Navigate the road. Listen to music. Read a book. Play a Game. Manage contacts en Calendar appointments. For shopping list or hart-rate. For sport.Looking for deals. Twitter, Facebook, My bank, learn a language. Must I go on?
      You get the picture 😉

  4. I think the got lazy and thought the where untouchable. They did not listen or did not want to hear to reason. Why do people buy a Samsung instead of a HTC? I am still wondering if I should not buy a Samsung. And LG is doing a good comeback and will be a good second choice. Only better sound seems to be the selling thing for HTC at the moment.

  5. Release a HTC Butterfly S Mini with the following: Design of the HTC Butterfly S, 4.5″ 720p display(326ppi), 8GB internal storage, MircoSD card slot(Up to 64GB), 4MP UltraPixels camera, Android 4.3, Sense 5 and finally, a removable 2200Mah battery. Price it around US$580 and I’m SOLD!!!

    1. Besides that, I forgotten to say the “HTC Butterfly S Mini” should also have a Snapdragon 400 1.7Ghz dual core processor.

  6. guest htc could come back on the spotlight if they introduced a windows version of the htc one together with the one maX because they really have to beat the hell out of that metal unibody chassis while its still hot
