Official: HTC Butterfly S unveield, outclasses the HTC One in everything but design

The rumors regarding the HTC Butterfly S turned into reality today when the device was unveiled in Taiwan. The HTC Butterfly S may look like last year’s HTC Butterfly with an extra front-facing speaker, but the internal specifications of the device make it the best phone in HTC’s lineup.

Specs on the HTC Butterfly S include a 5-inch 1080p (440 ppi) Super LCD3 display, quad-core 1.9GHz Snapdragon 600 processor, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of built-in storage, microSD expansion slot (up to 64GB), BSI UltraPixel camera sensor (we’re presuming 4 megapixels like the HTC One), 2.0 µm pixels size, f2.0 aperture and 28 mm lens for the main camera, 2.1 megapixel shooter on the from with a wide angle lens, and HTC’s trademarked front-facing stereo BoomSound speakers. While the inclusion of a larger display, expandable storage and a slightly faster processor already give the Butterfly S an edge over the HTC One, HTC has chosen to equip the new phone with a massive 3,200 mAh battery, enabling 25 hours of talk and 3.5 days of continuous mp3 playback.

Software features on the HTC Butterfly S will be comparable to those on the HTC One. The device runs on Android (most likely 4.1) with HTC Sense with BlinkFeed, Zoe and the custom camera and gallery applications. The HTC Butterfly S will go on sale in Taiwan starting in July with a sticker price of NT $22,900 ($766 USD). China, Japan and Singapore will most likely see the HTC Butterfly show up in stores by the end of the summer, but we doubt the HTC Butterfly S will be arriving in Europe or North America any time soon.

  1. Now I wonder if the T6 will have these specs, except for the screen size, or if it will have the HTC One specs. Either way, the T6 is the HTC phone that I am waiting to replace my One X with if we are not getting a GSM Butterfly S in the U.S.

    1. One has wonder about HTC’s marketing strategy in the U.S. The Butterfly S is exactly the type of phone that HTC need to offer on Sprint, Verizon and AT&T if they want to compete with Samsung. I hope the “T6” come with better specs. I don’t understand why would HTC offer the 64GB One on just one carrier with the worst coverage in the industry, and not sale it on Sprint and Verizon.
Note to HTC: Listen to your customers that purchase your phones. You want to compete with Samsung, LG, and the like, you got to build a phone that outclass their offerings. Please increase the screen size of the T6 to at least 6.4 inches.

  2. If they can put a 3200mAh battery into this, they should be able to squeeze something bigger into the HTC One? Unless the weight of the Aluminum enclosure makes it undesirable to fit a larger battery. I’m more than satisfied by the design of the HTC One, but I want the specs of the Butterfly S

  3. A neighborhood’s age is good and bad depending on its existing condition. A harmonious relationship established with well-informed tenants can turn into something more than trust, they could become your supporters as well. Investors have scooped in and bought many of these homes with the goal of resale.

  4. So they release a flagship device, “the one flagship phone of the year,” and then release something with better specifications. How does that then make the HTC One a flagship? It’s already lower-end than this. *sigh* HTC really is stupid.
