HTC Butterfly S poses for the camera before June 19th unveiling

With less than a week to go before the official unveiling of the HTC Butterfly S in Taiwan on June 19th, the phone has made its unofficial photo debut thanks to VR-Zone. On the surface, the HTC Butterfly S looks like last year’s HTC Butterfly/HTC Droid DNA with an extra speaker below the display, but the device is rumored to feature the same 1.7GHz quad-core Snapdragon 600 processor as the HTC One, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of storage, a microSD card slot and a 5-inch 1080p display.

The images show an exposed microUSB charging post on the bottom of the phone, a subtle clue which indicates that the HTC Butterfly S may not be water resistant like the device it would be replacing. We do not know when the HTC Butterfly S will be showing up in store shelves, but some sources claim that the handset will carry a 20,000 Taiwan dollars (roughly $670 USB) when it does.

  1. I’m thinking that if it has the same components but is in a bigger body them One it should have a bigger battery and therefore better battery life. I’m also digging the soft-touch backside and an SD slot. One for the fashionable and Butterfly S for the geek.

  2. It seems it doesn’t have BOOMSound. It could be on the left and right…

    1. It has one speaker at the top and one speaker on the bottom. What makes you think it won’t have Boomsound?

@post: I’ve been waiting on the HTC One since I had just gotten a Droid DNA with Verizon. Love the phone and aside from the SIM card missing error that was plaguing DNAs before the OTA update, had no complaints about it. If the Butterfly S comes to the USA by the time I’m due for upgrade in November, I’ll probably get it. As long as it comes factory unlocked and keeps the rear notification light, I’ll be happy. It looks like it may also be adding the IR blaster power button the HTC One has as well which is a plus.

  3. I love my HTC Butterfly S!The front facing speakers is superb!Maybe one of the reasons why I scour the internet just to have one! 😀 I also love that I could always update the software now, credits to merimobiles.com where I bought my unit.
