Rumored HTC phone codenamed T6 reportedly bigger than the HTC One

There’s a fresh rumor in town regarding a newer, BIGGER HTC phone that could be bigger than any smartphone we have seen from the smartphone manufacturing giant. The latest rumor comes to us from the infamous holder of the Twitter account @evleaks; this user has been responsible for many, many leaked photos and information about upcoming mobile products so we know the information we are sharing in this article holds some weight.

The comment on Twitter is simple, as you can see below. Evleaks uses a generic term that implies the project HTC is working on includes a device with radios commonly found in a smartphone and a screen large enough to categorize it as a tablet. Well, the rumored size is not quite the average tablet sizes which typically range from seven to ten inches, but we’re talking somewhere between five and six inches and would make a noticeable bulge in anyone’s pocket.

The comment from evleaks was made yesterday, but another source listed at the bottom came in on Friday and has an interesting twist. If this info is accurate, the device we’re talking about that is codenamed HTC T6 is simply the HTC One’s taller twin. The article from Pocket-Lint suggests we are to see a phone with all the same internal hardware as the HTC One; the only different is that it will have a larger screen. We think it is possibly to compete with Samsung’s upcoming Note device that will be above five inches.

HTC is continually pushing the size limit on its brilliant smartphones. In the last year and a half, we have seen the HTC One X that debuted with a 4.7″ display, the HTC Droid DNA came to Verizon and renamed internationally as the Butterfly sporting a 5″ 1080p screen and the HTC One retouched the 4.7″ screen on the One X combined with the same 1080p resolution as the DNA. This news kind of sounds like HTC is following last year’s strategy to release several phones with similar internal components, but feature multiple screen variations like the HTC One S and HTC One X. This is something HTC said they wouldn’t do, but who knows what really happens around the discussion table when you’re trying to win the hearts of fans across the globe.

If you held out on the HTC One would the same phone with a larger screen change your mind? What would the dollar amount for the T6 look like when it hits stores, more or the same price as the HTC One?

  1. For me the HTC One is plenty enough. I don’t think I would want a larger phone than my One.
