Large screen HTC T6 details surface with a possible late summer release

Earlier this week we shared details from a few sources that pegged HTC down as working on a big screen smartphone. Those rumors were pretty vague, but carried enough weight to support the possibility that HTC could be working such a device and implied that we might see a phone with a five to six inch screen plus the same hardware as the current king of smartphones, the HTC One.

Keeping in mind that we are still in rumor-land details are always subject to change and anything we publish up until the day HTC announces said phone could be different from what you are about to read. New details have surfaced revealing a handful of specs that leave our tongues hanging out of our mouths. The upcoming mega-phone is codenamed HTC T6 and is said to sport a 5.9″ display with 1080p resolution and the latest Snapdragon 800 quad-core processor clocked at 2.3 GHz (Qualcomm MSM8974). Other stellar details include:

  • 2 GB of RAM
  • UltraPixel rear camera
  • 2.1 MP front camera
  • Huge 3300 mAH battery
  • Android: Key Lime Pie

Beside that sexy list of specs is a low point, a mere 16 GB of internal storage is slated for this handset and if you are familiar with HTC’s pattern they typically pass on this option to put an emphasis on a smooth exterior design. There’s still hope that there will an expansion slot for more memory and the source suggests hope is alive. The alternate option is that HTC would release a couple of models like we’ve seen with the HTC One. A worthy mention is that this phone is projected to come with the latest version of Android which means HTC should have a newer version of HTC Sense to go along with it.

More goodies are expected in this Samsung Note competitor, rumor has it HTC will bring its pen interaction back to life and include it with this phone. We’re not sure if they will call it HTC Scribe, how it will look, or how well it will perform, but time will tell us all as we eagerly await a first look. Also keep your eyes and ears open for details about an HTC specific battery jacket that will boost the battery 1250 mAH’s. HTC might also be stepping up its security features by including a biometric scanner that will somehow be incorporated on the back or sides of the phone to align with your natural grip on the device.

What do you think about this phone now? It looks like HTC will be releasing two flagship devices this year, but keep in mind this one is for the crowd that is looking to combine their tablet and phone into one. We have to admit the sound of an HTC branded pen will be a compelling selling item since we feel that the HTC Scribe had so much potential and HTC will likely build from where they left off rather than start from scratch. We might see this phone hit the market as early as the end of the summer in case you want to hold off on that Samsung purchase for the One you really want.

  1. That pen looks nice, does it work with HTC ONE?
if so, what’s is name and price?

  2. Yes I must say the HTC scribe was and is a beautiful thing! I still use my HTC EVO view for business purposes just because my customers love and can believe how great the scribe works. They are constantly bashing ups and fed ex drivers after one use of it. Now if HTC brings it back with a HTC One the size of the galaxynote 2 or 3…………….. SIGN ME UP FOR 6 OF THEM THANK YOU!

  3. With only 16gb… I don’t card what the other specs are. PASS. 32 minimum with 64 preferred.
