HTC posts new HTC One BlinkFeed commercial – stop “digging gopher style”

There’s no denying that the HTC One if the most unique smartphone currently on the market. Blinkfeed, BoomSound and the Ultrapixel camera help HTC’s flagship stand apart from the competition. The problem is, you need to find a unique way to market these features and show consumers why they should care. HTC did a decent job with the BoomSound ad, but how to you convey BlinkFeed is a 30 second TV commercial?

HTC’s first attempt showed random newscasters, friends and athletes magically appear around you in the subway as you browse through BlinkFeed. That first ad for the UK was a bit creepy, so  HTC has chosen to take a more light-hearted approach with its BlinkFeed ad for the US. The new concept of the commercial is much better we did chuckle at the “dig gopher style” line, but we’re not sure the ad accurately reflects BlinkFeed’s functionality. If I wanted to “dig” up something I saw earlier in the day to share with a friend, BlinkFeed would definitely not be my app of choice.

From what we’ve seen with the BoomSound and new BlinkFeed ads, HTC has really stepped up it’s marketing game for the HTC One. Hopefully they can keep the momentum going and push out an Ultrapixel ad in the next few weeks and show consumers why the HTC One delivers the best smartphone camera experience to date.

What’s your take on the new ads? Is HTC selling the right features to consumers our is there something else they should highlight which will help the HTC one fly off of store shelves?

  1. I think HTC should create a Zoe commercial. Showcasing Zoe itself, Sequence Shot, Always Smile & the Removal tool. Most consumers think that only the BB Z10 has the Always Smile feature, & that the GS4 is the only smartphone to create an action shot photo; Drama shot. Also a lot of reviewers like Cnet think the HTC One doesn’t have these features. Again I’m saying REVIEWERS!
