HTC One sales surpass the 5 million mark

According to an unnamed HTC executive, roughly 5 million HTC Ones have been sold since the device first hit the market in late March. Current ordered for the HTC One continue to exceed HTC’s production capacity, an issue which may soon be solved.

While we’re excited to hear that the HTC One is selling well, the timing of the announcement is a little suspect. In the past 36 hours, several news stories have revealed that HTC has lost a handful of high-profile employees ranging from Chief Product Officer, Global Communications Director to HTC Asia CEO. The “leak” may be a well-placed PR move to shift the media’s focus from internal company turmoil back to HTC’s flagship product.

“Orders are pretty good so far and are still more than what we can supply. This is partly due to the shortage of components. When the issue is resolved next month, we will have a better idea if it’s doing really well or not,”

Selling 5 million HTC Ones is no small feat, but HTC still needs to move a lot more devices if it wants to show shareholders that the company is back on track.

Are you one of the 5 million people who have already purchased the HTC One?
