Pre-orders for HTC One Developer Edition placed on back-order due to “shipping issues”

The HTC One can now be purchased from AT&T, Sprint and at least a half dozen third part retailers starting today, but those who pre-ordered the 64GB developer edition and 32GB SIM unlocked model will not be getting their devices for a while even though they were promised an April 19th delivery date. HTC ShopAmerica sent out an email this morning to those who pr-ordered the devices through HTC’s branded LetsTalk.com store, informing them that shipping issues are to blame for the delay.

To make things worse, the email also informs pre-order customers that the free HTC One Double Dip case which was to be included with the device will be delayed until mid-May due to “overwhelming demand.”

We have an important update about your order. Due to shipping issues with the 32G unlocked and 64G Developers Editions of the New HTC One®, there will be a slight delay in shipping your HTC One® to you. We expect to have your phone delivered to you, via overnight shipping, before the end of April. We’ll do everything we can to get it shipped to you as soon as possible.

Also, due to overwhelming demand, there will be a delay in shipping your free case. We expect to begin receiving the Double Dip cases in mid-May, and will ship them as soon as they’re available.

We understand the excitement and anticipation that comes with a new phone, and we are confident that the HTC One® will exceed that anticipation.

Everyone reading this blog knows that we are huge supported of HTC and we typically come to their defense since we know the unique challenges that the company faces, but we cannot defend them this time. HTC has delayed the US launch of the HTC One by nearly a month. Since they manufacture their own phones, they know exactly how many devices they have on hand and how they will be distributed. At this point, HTC is simply asking for bad press, especially when they are dropping the ball with customers who are purchasing the HTC One directly from them at full retail price.

  1. I’m an unsatisfied customer of Let’s Talk. I order the 32GB Standard Model for Sprint and I don’t have my phone and their talking as late as Thursday, April 25, 2013 before I will receive my phone. The very thought of a one month wait on a case that they manufacture is ridiculousness. I must say, I’ve eagerly awaited the launch of this phone. This is more than unacceptable!

  2. I’m sure Samsung will get it right with the Galaxy S IV! I’ve been a loyal customer of HTC. I’ve had the HTC Touch, Touch Diamond, Touch Pro, and EVO. This just makes my blood boil that they’ve deceived all of their consumers. While I realize that HTC function and features are going to be superior, the success of this launch hinges of the survival of HTC and they’ve already mucked it up! Ugh!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  3. Some orders got shipped today on 19th! website shows IN STOCK!
This time I think the shipments really got delayed by the courier not HTC!

  4. yes i went to teen mobile 04/26/2013 i got the htc one i payed for overnight shipping its on backorder i cant get ansewer from anybody does anybody know when it going to ship or how long do i have to wait i pissed please anybody nows anything please tell me

  5. Ordered mine on 4/18/13 and I still haven’t gotten mine. It was supposed to be shipped on the 28th and delivered by 5/3/13 now my status on shopamerica.htc.com reads shipping date 5/1/13 estimated delivery 5/7/13. I’ve called shopamerica so many times and no one there seems to know what to tell me about why the date keeps getting pushed further. One representative joked and said she hopes that I’ll be able to receive it before the end of May. I didn’t find her joke to be too funny. I need the direct number and address to this warehouse in Il that’s holding my phone hostage so I could just go pick up the phone myself.

  6. ordered my htc one 4/25/13, been getting the ships today/will be delivered tomorrow message on htc status website for the last 3 days. HTC IS REALLY SCREWING UP HERE and I hope their execs are running scared. this kind of thing will sink your company. I call everyday and get the same run-around like everybody else. BUT TODAY I CALLED and spoke with someone with a brain at 866-416-3059 and they said all last shipment went out 4/26 and it’s gone, nothing in inventory all this week. so the messages on delivery status website has been bs all week! she said next shipment comes in and goes out this friday May 3. she doesnt know if they’ll do saturday deliveries, or monday delivery cause they’ve tried both in recent past. so I gotta call friday to hopefully get a knowledgeable person to tell me if my phone will ship that day AND if it’ll deliver sat or monday. this is important cause we have lives and aren’t always at our delivery addresses all week/weekend WAITING FOR THE IDIOTS AT HTC TO PULL THEIR HEADS OUT AND ACT LIKE A RESPONSIBLE COMPANY!
