HTC Thunderbolt’s long-awaited Android 4.0 update officially available – dreams really do come true

HTC Thunderbolt’s long-awaited Android 4.0 update officially available – dreams really do come true

Those of you still holding on to your HTC Thunderbolt, patiently waiting for a  new version of Android, should be happy to hear that the Android 4.0 update has started to roll out. While the roll-out of the update may be nearly six months late, it’s not completely unexpected since Verizon posted details of the update on the HTC Thunderbolt’s support page late last week.

The OTA update brings the device one step closer to the newest version of Android, although, I don’t believe we’ll ever see an official Jelly Bean release for the Thunderbolt.  The new Ice Cream Sandwich 4.0 update weighs in at a hefty 395MB, so we’d suggest you update when connected via Wi-Fi to minimize your data plan usage.

Don’t forget to let us know if you’ve received the update and how you like the new changes.

My pictures are gone… Any idea where they went?

  2. melanie

My phone updated and got the ice cream sandwich. Where are all my pictures and videos!? They are no longer in my gallery! They can’t be gone forever!

  3. melanie

So, its actually the last two months of videos and photos that are gone. Where are they?

    • Tiffany

All of mine ever are missing…I’m wondering if they are on the sd card and the new gallery isn’t linked to it…I’m going to try and figure it out…

New issue….while charging it reports that it is using more juice than the charger is providing…woke up to 9% after a night of charging…

  4. Les

Same problems! Missing pic’s? Charger can’t keep up? and the worse part I cant text my Girl Friend? This sucks!!! Go to Messages and it freezes in loading… I want my old version back! Maybe it’s time for an Iphone, just sucks I had no warning of this?

  5. lolo

Can’t text. No warning. Not happy.

    • Les

Same here! I run a couple trucks in the oil fields and texting is a big part of keeping comunication and sending info to drivers! Not Happy…..

  6. Ryan D

    Mine is working great

  7. Thom Rogers

Some serious issues with this update. Processor lags. Slow response times to tapped input. Loss of WiFi connection. Plus other issues.

    • Tiffany

I found my pictures in Dropbox ! It changed my settings so the photos leave the phone and automatically dump them into Dropbox

Ice cream sandwich sucks. Phone is sooo slow. It is always “loading”. Battery life is way down. Internet search super slow. Did anyone test this before release??? We waited how long for this? Give me back my old system and everything that was lost because of this POS. Ps: my battery is always hot anymore

  9. Alex

The only issue I have is the touchscreen response time. The lag is pretty bad. It’s even worse when video calling someone. A patch is needed ASAP!

  10. Ron

my thunder bolt did this dam 4.0 update. take almost a minute to make a call. text messages already have an old response in reply field that must be erased every time.this update really sucks. how can i get the old version back?

Everyone who is having an issue with your phone – do a factory reset. It’ll fix your issues. You’ll have to re-install your applications but at least the phone will be stable again.
