White HTC Butterfly heading to China gets 400K pre-orders in one day
The HTC Butterfly is spreading its wings across mobile networks all over the world and although the Butterfly has already touched down in China; availability in a new color has sparked a new fire.
For a little over 24 hours, the HTC Butterfly has been up for pre-orders and the amount of units so far has tallied over 400,000. The white model goes on sale in China tomorrow for approximately $774 US dollars and if the sales before release are any indicator, this version should be an immediate success in this market. Black and red versions of the HTC Butterfly debuted in mid-December in China, while other locations are still dealing with the disappointment of its non-arrival.
The HTC Butterfly has a lot in common with the HTC Droid DNA that we reviewed in December, but has lost/gained some features on its way across the globe. The Butterfly does not have wireless charging or LTE, but the large 5″ screen does have a good enough seal on it to deem it waterproof and has a micro-SD slot for a memory card. Aside from these differences, HTC is offering a unique accessory with the white Butterfly; a Bluetooth compatible remote device called the HTC Mini. The HTC Mini pairs with the phone to offer a smaller hand held device for taking calls, sending SMS messages, taking photos and listening to music.

We noticed the price for this model is higher than the Droid DNA and our best guess is that the accessory included with the phone is deeming it worthy of that premium price tag. We are unsure of the reason why a person would want to carry around an extra device, but could probably see it substituting as a home phone when a user wants to remove excess items from the pockets and relax for a bit.
We hope the success of this phone leads to the continued success of sales by HTC in the quarters to come.
If you could only pick one color for your phone to be which one would you select?
