Rumor: HTC M7 to debut at CES with on-screen buttons

The latest HTC M7 rumor floating around the web implies that the device will debut at CES with on-screen buttons. While we’re as excited about getting our hands on the HTC M7 as much as you are, we highlight doubt that the device will be unveiled at CES. The CES show floor is scheduled to open in less than seven days and HTC does not have a press event scheduled. Over the past few years, HTC has unveiled new devices at CES, but all of them have been presented by carrier partners. Since the HTC M7 is expected to be the company’s flagship device for 2013, we doubt HTC would limit the device’s exposure by unveiling it at CES as opposed to Mobile World Congress.

The comment about on-screen buttons we totally buy. Removing the capacitive buttons from below the screen would allow HTC to make the M7 slightly smaller than the HTC Droid DNA and HTC J Butterfly while retaining the same 5-inch display.

While @Football4PDA has been reliable in the past, we do not believe that the HTC M7 will be shown off at CES. We’d love to be wrong, but we just didn’t want to guys to get your hopes up.
