Verizon’s HTC 8X ships with unlocked SIM – works with AT&T and T-Mobile GSM networks

The title says it all. The LTE enabled HTC 8X on sold by Verizon ships SIM-unlocked – just like the new HTC Droid DNA. OK, so there’s really not that many people who actually care about a SIM-unlocked HTC 8X since the phone is also available from AT&T and T-Mobile, but let’s not forget that the Verizon HTC 8X does have a feature which is missing from all other variants on other carriers – wireless charging. If you were planning on buying the HTC 8X for AT&T or T-Mobile off-contract anyways, we’d suggest you take your money to the closes Verizon store – where the HTC 8X is priced at $549.99 ($50 cheaper than what T-Mobile is charging).

Keep in mind that the Verizon HTC 8X will currently only work on 2G speeds if you opt to use a T-Mobile SIM with it. Fortunately, that 2G signal will soon turn into 3G/4G as T-Mobile continues to re-farm its HSPA+ network to make room for its LTE roll-out next year. We’re hoping that this will become a new trend from Verizon. While they like to keep their 4G network locked up pretty tight, offering SIM-unlocked devices will definitely score them a few extra points from consumers.
