HTC J Butterfly sales exceed expectations – HTC to increase shipments to meet demand

Reviews of the HTC J Butterfly (Japan’s version of the HTC Droid DNA) have been extremely positive, so we’re not at all surprised to hear that the phone has been selling well in Japan. According to a statement by HTC CEO, Peter Chou, the company is actually not fully able to meet demand at the moment due to strong demand which is outperforming HTC’s initial sales estimates.

Based on our initial feedback, the phone has become very popular in Japan and we have been endeavoring to boost our shipments,

A “large number” of HTC J Butterfly handsets should be available to the Japanese market before the end of December. Peter Chou did not indicate how many units HTC had allotted to Japan for the handset launch, but its nice to see that consumers are eager to get their hands on the latest flagship Android phone from HTC.

The HTC Butterfly is scheduled to launch in Taiwan within the next few weeks and will be priced at NT$22,900 (US$788), roughly 10% lower than the Apple iPhone 5 which sells for NT$24,900. The European launch of the HTC Butterfly is still up in the air, but a recent pre-order listing for the phone gives us hope that the handset’s launch may be right around the corner.
