Verizon confirms HTC 8X wireless charging, $199 price tag and exclusive red and black colors

Verizon has now confirmed that the HTC 8X will have wireless charging capabilities baked into the device, confirming what we posted several days ago. Verizon’s HTC 8X will be the only variant of the phone to receive this capability which will rely on Qi wireless charging technology. While Qi enabled devices are few and far between, it is one of the most popular wireless standards out there which makes it easier for users to find compatible accessories to use with the device.

The HTC 8X can be pre-ordered starting tomorrow for $199 with a two-year contract, and will be available in Blue, Red, and Black. The Red and Black variants of the phone are Verizon Wireless exclusives. While the HTC 8X will go on sale tomorrow at AT&T, Verizon isn’t willing to commit to a launch date quite yet. All we know is that Verizon’s HTC 8X will be “available by Thanksgiving.”

Considering how many charging cables many of us already have laying around, does having wireless charging capabilities factor in when deciding which smartphone to purchase?
