Official: HTC One X and HTC One S Android 4.1 update to start in October

Shortly after Google unveiled Android 4.1, HTC made a passing reference to the update and mentioned that the HTC One X and HTC One S would eventually receive it.  Fast forward a few months and we finally have a better picture as to when the new update will be delivered to the new handsets. Nestled into the bottom of the HTC One X+ press release from yesterday, HTC mentioned that “Android Jelly Bean with HTC Sense 4+ update is scheduled to begin rolling out for the HTC One S and HTC One X from October.”

Before you get too excited, let’s keep in mind that the October release of Android 4.1 is most likely targeted at HTC’s unlocked European devices. If you’ve purchased your phone through a service provider, the Android 4.1 update for your device will most likely follow several weeks later. Those of us in the United States will probably wait even longer since AT&T and T-Mobile have much longer testing cycles which typically add an additional month or two to update roll-out cycles.  So soon as we find more details regarding the Android 4.1 release for carrier branded devices, we’ll let you know.

Check out our HTC Android 4.1 update post to see if your phone will be getting Jelly Bean in the coming months.
