Mid-range HTC One VX heading to AT&T in the “coming months.”

Joining in on all the HTC news today is the new HTC One VX which will be heading to AT&T in the “coming months.” Surprisingly, the HTC One VX has caught us off guard since it’s not often that a handset gets announced without even a trace a rumor. The HTC One VX is an odd-ball device with a 4.5-inch qHD Super LCD2 display, 1.2GHz dual-core Snapdragon S4 MSM 8930, 1GB of RAM, 8GB internal storage, 5 megapixel main camera with an f/2.0 lens, BSI sensor, ImageSense software integration and 1080p video capture. The front camera is limited to VGA resolution, similar to the HTC One S. Other features include Beats Audio, 1810 mAh battery, NFC, FM radio, Bluetooth 4.0, LTE and a 9.19mm thick shell.

The AT&T HTC One VX will launch with Android 4.0, but HTC is promising that the device’s Jelly Bean (Android 4.1) update will be made available shortly after launch. Since AT&T is currently selling the HTC One X for just $99 ($19.99 if you buy it on Amazon), we’re expecting the HTC One VX to be priced aggressively. We wouldn’t be surprised if the device showed up in AT&T stores before the holidays priced below $80 with a new two-year contract.
The HTC One VX is ideal for those looking for an affordable Android smartphone and a premium experience. The HTC One VX sports one of the slimmest unibody form factors in the industry at just 9.19 millimeters thin, making it easy to hold and navigate. The 4.5-inch display is laminated with scratch-resistant Corning® Gorilla® Glass which aids in durability and reduces light reflection. A 5-megapixel camera, which goes from lock screen to shooting photos in under a second, offers continuous shooting at 4 frames per second. For those that can’t quite decide whether they want to capture the moment in pictures or video, it is possible to capture a still image from a video with VideoPic.
1. 8 GB of internal storage and no memory card slot? Just how daft is HTC getting? I understand that the average user isn’t going to need more than 8 GB total, but given the size of Sense and Android together, this phone is only going to have about 2 gigs of accessible storage for the user, which will be used up near instantaneously by simple things like music anf photos, not to mention HD videos from the camera they advertise so much. And can you imagine how quickly customers will be turned off of HTC forever when they use up their phone’s memory to find out that there’s NOTHING they can do about it? Aside from using a very expensive data plan for cloud storage. I’m sure people will just eat that up.
I really like HTC and i would love to wish them the best, but they’re heading down a slippery slope of outright stupid, and they need to fix this.

On the other hand, I’d like to mention how much I appreciate you NOT using the phrase “9.19mm thin.”

    1. How daft are you, Ran? The VX has a MicroSD slot, so 1gig ram + 8 gig rom + SD storage is perfectly acceptable for a phone of this class. If you spent 1/2 the time looking into this phone’s specs as you did penning your little rant, you’d have seen this.

Man, you people dumping all over HTC every chance you get is worse than Apple people dumping over Android.

  2. I recently got one. I love it , all about it , and to be sincere, is better than I expected, lot better. I like flagship phones, I have used them (x+, x,) even my sister have an one s, but I like this more. Screen is beautifull, no be afraid cuz it got less than 300ppi.
Battery life is Awesome! Performance is very good, I don’t find myself waiting for something to load and winning about time. Great deal, I got it from eBay for just $240, brand new.
