HTC Desire X gets a budget-friendly price in the UK

When HTC announced the HTC Desire X as a budget-friendly device last week, we were not exactly sure what to make of it. The specs on the HTC Desire X which include a 4-inch Super LCD display (800 x 480), 1GHz dual-core Qualcomm S4 processor, 768MB of RAM and a 5 megapixel camera with HTC’s proprietary ImageChip put the device somewhere in between the HTC One S and HTC One V, but it looks like HTC wants to make sure that there’s a clear distinction between its One and Desire lines.

HTC and carrier partners have not yet announced pricing for the HTC Desire X, but that has not stopped Clove from listing the handset on its website for £228.00. Cut off UK’s VAT and you’re left with a fairly reasonable £190.00 (roughly $300 USD) sticker price for the HTC Desire X. The 1Ghz dual-core processor in the HTC desire X may have more in common with the chip inside last year’s HTC Sensation than it does with the One S or One X, but we’re happy to see HTC offer up a dual-core powered device for exactly the same price as the HTC One V.

The launch of the HTC Desire X is scheduled for later this month, but we’re not yet sure if/when it will be available in North America. Regional carriers have just now started carrying the HTC One V, so it could be that the HTC Desire X will be making its way to Sprint, T-Mobile, Verizon and AT&T as a $50 on-contract phone.
