Leaked HTC Thunderbolt Android 4.0 build gives us a glimpse of what’s to come

Those still hoping HTC will deliver the Android 4.0 update for the HTC Thunderbolt before its own self-imposed deadline (the end of August) will be happy to hear that a leaked version of the official ROM is now available. The ROM features all the Android 4.0 goodies you’d expect, along with HTC Sense 3.6 a new Quick Settings tab in the notification panel and access to Android 4.0 apps like Google’s Chrome browser.

Those who have already rooted their HTC Thunderbolt will probably want to flash this leaked Android 4.0 ROM, but if you’re among those who are still running a stock device, we suggest waiting just a little bit longer. HTC and Verizon are most likely in the final round of testing and should be pushing out the update to the HTC Thunderbolt in the next week or two.

Do you think HTC will release the Android 4.0 update for the HTC Thunderbolt before the end of August?

  1. It’s about time something has surfaced about the Tbolt. Thank you for sharing this! I’ll be shocked if my phone is updated by midnight on September 1st.

    1. HTC may release the update to Verizon by the end of the month but I would be blown away to see users actually get OTA’s by then. With this phones history/support I think we will be lucky to see it before November.
