HTC’s Peter Chou: “We are coming back”

HTC has been struggling to keep up with Samsung and Apple, but its CEO, Peter Chou, is fired up and looking to motivate his employees to cut through any internal bureaucracy to make sure that the company can regain its position in the smartphone sector. A company-wide email titled “We are coming back” from Peter Chou was leaked to the press, highlighting some of the company’s internal struggles:

“We have people in meeting and talking all the time but without decision, strategic direction or sense of urgency. Bureaucracy crept in without clear ownership. We agreed to do something but we either didn’t do it or executed it loosely. Don’t let the processes, rules and norms to impact our important goals.  Of course we have to follow certain rules and criteria but don’t let small things kill the major goals.”

HTC’s dominance in the marketplace has dwindled as its larger competitors have flooded media outlets with multi-million dollar marketing campaigns which have pushed aside HTC’s 2012 flagship devices.

“We are disappointed that our sales are down while smartphone market share is growing, Our competitors can leverage their scale, brand awareness and big marketing budget to do things which HTC could not do. The fast growth from the last two years has slowed us down.”

It’s hard to say how long it will take HTC to turn things around, but we have a feeling that 2013 will be a much different year for HTC.

  1. For that to occur Htc has to learn to make devices without omitting specs that the masses have stated they want on their devices such as bigger removable batteries, SD card expansion slots, ample internal storage 16/32/64GB, 8+Mpx rear with 2+Mpx front cams and a MUST for marquee devices 2GB RAM. Would be nice to also see devices that are no more than 130mm tall with minimal bezel with a 4.7” to 5.0” screens that utilize onscreen/software buttons. We know many who have Android blood flowing thru their veins will love to see a pure and pure Android device from HTC be it under the Nexus name or otherwise… SO WHY CAN’T HTC JUST RELEASE A TOP NOTCH PURE JELLY BEAN ANDROID DEVICE THAT WILL BLOW AWAY EVERYTHING PRESENT NOW. That is if they are not the chosen Nexus OEM or one of the rumored five JB Nexus OEMs. Just for this device leave out Sense UI or give the option at boot up to choose either vanilla or Sense UI. My view is that a pure JB Htc device with killer specs will blow up the sales charts.

  2. y is it that HTC vivid has been left untouched look at galaxy sll they both have the same spec almost the same though but still the vivid has only 4.0.3 while the galaxy sll has 4.2 so dnt blame the people running away from HTC they Ve refused to attend to their devices which are capable of running jelly bean so why won’t they fail that’s it check out Samsung still d best till date they never leave anyone behind at all ur the best Samsung luv u……
