HTC Droid Incredible 4G LTE source code now available

The Droid Incredible 4G LTE community can do a little celebrating after today. It looks like HTC has released the source code (kernel: 3.08, Android version: 4.0) for this device on the HTCDev download page. Those savvy programmers on XDA-Developers will surely grab the 97.1 MB file and begin to make changes that may persuade you to root and override the current installation on your phone. If you need to unlock your bootloader, you should start on the HTCDev Bootloader Unlock page. Remember to do so at your own risk!

If you are unwilling to make modifications to your new smartphone investment, HTC has listed the HTC Droid Incredible 4G LTE as a candidate to receive the Jelly Bean version of Android. That means that if you hold out, your phone will soon get a hassle free update that will bring it up to the most current version of Android and HTC Sense user interface.

HTC Droid Incredible 4G LTE users out there let us know if you are excited about this news or not.

  1. I’ll hold out and wait the for the Jelly Bean update. Especially if it’s listed as a candidate. Don’t fail me now. 😀

  2. Well, I really, really hope this is true. Although, considering that the Incredible 4G LTE is not included on the “Unlocking Your Bootloader” list on the HTCdev site combined with HTC’s and Verizon’s deplorable record of OTA updates, I’m doubtful. Presently, the only way to unlock the Incredible 4G’s bootloader is by spoofing the Cid.

Again, I hope this is true and that HTC/Verizon will be prompt in providing a Jelly Bean OTA. If not, it is highly doubtful that I’d ever buy another Android device from HTC and through Verizon.
