How to SIM unlock the HTC Vivid and add T-Mobile’s access point

I recently purchased a HTC Vivid on Craigslist while on vacation in California (my home state I might add), fully aware that the phone is sold to operate with AT&T service, but I knew the good guys at HTCSIMUnlock.com would be able to help me get this phone unlocked and ready to run with my T-Mobile SIM card.

The process is simple, contact HTCSIMUnlock.com using their website, provide them with the IMIE number to your new/locked phone and follow the steps below. Please note these steps were used for a HTC Vivid and unlocking other phones may vary.
  1. Insert T-Mobile SIM card and power on the HTC Vivid.
  2. Unlock the phone using the circular slider.
  3. Enter the code received from HTCSIMUnlock.com when you see the prompt, ”Enter the SIM network unlock PIN” and press enter or done.
At this time you should see a successful message and the HTC Vivid will restart. After the phone has restarted, go to Settings, select Mobile Network, select Network Operators, press Search networks (T-Mobile & AT&T should pop-up) and then select T-Mobile. Your phone will begin registering with T-Mobile’s network and will notify you when this is complete. You may have to reboot one more time, but other than that your phone has been configured for cellular use with T-Mobile. Next, you will want to add T-Mobile’s Access Point Settings so you can use your data plan on the Vivid. Go to Mobile Network under Settingsand follow these steps:

  1. If there is a T-Mobile APN, touch it. If not, press the Menu key, and touch New APN.
  2. Verify and update the following settings for the Data APN:
    • Name: T-Mobile
    • APN: epc.tmobile.com
    • Proxy: <Not set>
    • Port: <Not set>
    • Username: <Not set>
    • Password: <Not set>
    • Server: <Not set>
    • MMSC: http://mms.msg.eng.t-mobile.com/mms/wapenc
    • MMS proxy: <Not set>
    • MMS port: <Not set>
    • MMS protocol: WAP 2.0
    • MCC: 310
    • MNC: 260
    • Authentication type: <Not set>
    • APN type: <Not Set>
  3. Press the Menu key.
  4. Touch Save.
Afterwards, you should be all set and your phone will be running on T-Mobile’s network. Thanks again to HTCSIMUnlock.com for the assistance!

    internet HELP!!!

    1. I had similar difficulties after buying an unlocked HTC Vivid to work on Tmobile network. I used the programming for the HTC One to get 4G service but still have no MMS. They say the Vivid will only get Edge speeds but, I actually get 4G here in Atlanta GA. Settings:

      Name: T-Mobile.com
      APN: fast.t-mobile.com
      Proxy: Not Set
      Port: Not Set
      Username: Not Set
      Password: Not Set
      Server: wap.voicestream.com
      MMSC: http://mms.msg.eng.t-mobile.com/mms/wapenc
      MMS proxy: 261.155.165.50
      MMS port: Not Set
      MMS protocol: WAP 2.0
      MCC:310
      MNC: 260
      Authentication type; Not Set
      APN type: default
      APN enable/disable: Checked
      Bearer:Unspecified

Hopefully I can get the MMS settings corrected to send MMS and pics. Maybe this will be a starting point to get internet service

  3. dont work i called t mobile they said call htc they said call t mobile all i see is some one trying to rip some one off for a contract bull F—ING Sh–

    1. I think your best bet is to contact T-Mobile again or check their forums for the APN settings to see if someone has something differnt that listed above. It might take the right phone operator who is willing to help you figure it out. I can pretty much guarantee the Vivid works with T-Mobile as I used this phone and later let me nephew use it (until he crushed the screen).

  4. my phone keeps on loosing service i have a unlocked AT&T HTC Vivid But i am with T-moblie, why is that so?????????

  5. You can get the calling and sms to work but in order for mms and internet to work you HAVE to put in the t-mobile apn but you will not get 3g or 4g to work you would have to flash the modem to one of t-mobiles that would work for the vivid

  6. With that being said.. you shoulda got a T-Mobile phone or stuck with att or use your vivid on straight talk with a att compatible sim

  7. I have an unlocked HTC vivid that I use on T-mobile. Everything works great except unable to use the Wifi Hotspot feature. Anyone know any fixes without rooting?

    1. How did you make the internet to work? I have the same phone but by my family mobile powered by tmobile

    2. What are is your APN codes? I just bought the vivid and can’t get it to go on the internet on 4g. Can u help me please.

  8. Hi, i have an htc vivid and want to unlock it for different networks, so i bought a code from a site codes2unlock, they send me the code and few simple instructions on how to unlock htc vivid, i follow them and it’s done.

  9. Today, there are many internet bookmakers who offer odds on the outcome of the same event.

HP seems to regularly shuffle around their cookbook templates,
so you will likely want to check back on a
regular basis to see what they have to offer.
These kinds can open up a calendar year in advance of the occasion itself.

  10. Have a HTC Vivid II WORKING ON T-Mobile network, everything works but can’t get the hot spot featture to work….any ideas?
