HTC Desire HD Android 4.0 update canceled for Telus customers

The title of the article sums up the story. According to a leaked Telus road-map, the Android 4.0 update for the HTC Desire HD has been shelved due to “poor device performance during testing.” Initially, there was some speculation that the Ice Cream Sandwich update for all HTC Desire HD handsets was canceled, but those fear were put to rest when HTC customer support re-confirmed that the handset’s Android 4.0 update was still on schedule to be delivered within the originally promised July-August time frame.

“Please note that the Ice Cream Sandwich will be coming later this year to HTC Rezound, HTC Vivid, HTC Amaze 4G, HTC Evo 3D, HTC Design 4G, HTC Incredible S, HTC Desire S, HTC Desire HD, HTC Rhyme, HTC 4G+, HTC Raider 4G. It is expected within July-August for hTC Desire HD.”

Like all the other Gingerbread to Ice Cream Sandwich updates, the HTC Desire HD is expected to get HTC Sense 3.6 which makes the UI lighter and more responsive. Once the update is made available to consumers, the HTC Desire HD will be the oldest Android handset to run on an official OEM Ice Cream Sandwich build.
