HTC confirms HTC Desire HD and Desire S Ice Cream Sandwich upgrades are on schedule

A few days ago, there was a bit of a scare when an image of Telus’ Android update schedule hit the web, claiming that the Android 4.0 update for the HTC Desire HD has been scrapped due to poor performance. Android blogs across the web bolted out the door with titles like “HTC breaks its promise – cancels HTC Desire HD ICS update” and “HTC Desire HD Android 4.0 update cancelled due to performance issues.” Since we knew there had to be more to the story, we reported exactly what the information suggested: the Android 4.0 update for the Telus HTC Desire HD was cancelled due to performance issues – nothing more.

To clarify the situation, we reached out to several of our contact at HTC. We finally heard back from them late last night with the following statement:
We remain committed to providing customers with the latest software updates when possible. As such, we are pleased to confirm we are still on schedule to deliver an Ice Cream Sandwich upgrade for both the HTC Desire HD and Desire S.
According to HTC’s official Android 4.0 update schedule, the Desire HD should receive its Android 4.0 update by the end of August while the Desire S should be seeing its update roll out in the next few weeks.

  1. Well this is august 2, let’s see.. I like the HTC desire HD. I am using it currently as my second phone.

  2. So my question is when we get android software update for HTC desire hd. We have now 2.3.5 with sanse 3.0.

  3. It’s 13th of September, and starting to question this whole thing.
I know, it could take for another month for it to update, but
at the beginning the plan was that Desire Hd were never gonna get ICS, and then again, it would, but later. So they could just tell us some details about the date, and stop making us feel satisfied by telling us “soon, soon” again and again.

  4. Thinking about htc one, but when i see what is going on with updates with dhd, sony Z1 is only choice…

Htc never more…thx for blind promisses htc

  5. Htc hd is really a great phone, glad i bought it, BUT there is no need to promise wonders if there will be none. It’s just frustrating, makes doubts about produser and future expectations.
