Sony partners with HTC for new PlayStation Suite-certified devices

Last night during their E3 Press Conference, Sony announced that they are partnering with HTC to release PlayStation Suite-certified devices.  PlayStation Suite is the new name for PlayStation Mobile and was announced last year, followed by an open beta test this past April.  Previously, Sony Ericsson handsets were the only devices to be PlayStation Mobile compliant.  This new partnership with HTC, and possibly other third-party vendors in the future, should provide Sony a greater opportunity to grow the PlayStation Suite across various carriers and a larger selection of devices.  While no specific models were mentioned, the HTC One X was visible during the Press Conference.

Tell us your thoughts.  Do you think this is a good partnership for HTC?  Are you excited to play PlayStation games on your HTC device?

  1. Very intriguing indeed. Do you have any info if there will be any new HTC phones specifically associated with the Playstation brand that will be released (perhaps special edition One X)?

    1. While a special edition phone would be nice, I think this is more of a software feature which could roll out to the HTC One X, XL and S over the summer.

  2. I don’t have any information on any specific HTC phones that will specifically associated with PlayStation Suite. I think it would be best if it is implemented as a software package that is rolled out to existing phones such as the One series and then pre-loaded on new devices as they are released.
