HTC One S heading to India on June 15 for – powered by Qualcomm’s 1.7 GHz S3 processor

While we’ve been enjoying the HTC one S in Europe and the United States for a month or two, HTC is still rolling out the phone in markets across the globe. The latest region to get access to HTC’s flagship device is India, with a launch date expected for June 15th. Unfortunately, customers in India will not be treated to the same HTC One S that we’ve come to know and love. According to HTC’s website, the HTC One S heading to India will be powered by a 1.7 GHz Qualcomm S3 processor rather than the more powerful and energy efficient S4 chip which is used in Europe and North America.

HTC has still not confirmed why the HTC One S released in several markets in Asia has been equipped with last year’s S3 chip, but rumors indicate that TSMC (the manufacturer who produces Qualcomm’s chip) is having issues keeping up with demand for the new S4 chip.

The price of the HTC One S in India is expected to be around 30,000 Rupees, roughly $538. As this point, we’d importing the S4 powered HTC One S from Europe since it’s roughly the same price but comes with a much more powerful chip.
