HTC Examining Android 4.1 Deployment Options

The announcement of Android 4.1 yesterday at Google I/O likely raised an additional question for those who’ve recently purchased an HTC device.  Will my new device receive the Jelly Bean update?  Today, HTC made a statement regarding how Android 4.1 will be deployed and here is what they had to say:

We are excited about Android Jelly Bean and are planning to support it across a variety of our devices.  We are reviewing the software to determine our upgrade plans and schedule, so please stay tuned for more updates on specific device upgrade plans.

I’m guessing that the HTC One series will receive the upgrade but as you see there is no official announcement of which devices will receive the update.

What devices do you think will receive the new Android 4.1 update?  Tell us your thoughts below.

  1. I wont be holding my breath. Still waiting for ICS for my Desire S. And yes, I am bitter.

  2. Looking forward to the update cant wait to try it out on the One X to see the changes, probably not much though

  3. Project Butter should make HTC handsets even quicker. can’t wait to see how it turns out!

  4. Well since i have there flagship phone(rezound) and no ICS yet ,I am hoping some of the great android dev’s port this to us as for HTC and Verzion..not much Hope there 😉

  5. htc onc one X and one S for sure will have to get the update
the 4.1 is not a major improvement over ICS so i think all the devices that got updated to ICS will also get the jely bean

  6. My first smart phone has been the sensation, that means I received the ics update quickly, but I think its unfair on some HTC users who havent yet received the update. Well does that mean HTC don’t care about their fans ? Does it mean now the new ones Os is out my phone will be abandoned too ?

  7. Just hoping that since sensation got ics that still is good for receiving jelly bean… Ive been reading that the new version fixes a bit the look of ui and improve notification… Which i think are areas that the transition shouldn’t be hard to do.

  8. i think that all the devices will take ICS update will be able to receive 4.1 update too!!
