Virgin Mobile announces EVO V 4G available May 31st for $299

The number of HTC devices continues to grow with the addition of the Virgin Mobile branded EVO V 4G.  Virgin Mobile has announced that it will be releasing it’s first “4G” device on May 31st for a cost of $299.  The $299 price may seem steep, but this phone can be used with a prepaid plan so no contract is required.  This plan will use Sprint’s existing WiMax network and will cost $35/month for 300 minutes talk time with unlimited data and messaging.

Th HTC EVO V 4G will ship with a 4.3″ qHD 960×540 display, 5MP front camera with video and 3D HD imaging, a front-facing 1.3MP camera, 1GB of RAM, HDMI port, external microSD card (capable of 32GB), and a 1,730 mAh battery which will allow up to six hours of talk time. Additionally, the EVO V 4G will carry Android 4.0 and the HTC Sense 3.6 user interface when it arrives at the end of the month.

What are your thoughts on this announcement?  Does it interest you, or are you going to pass on this and purchase a different on-contract handset such as an HTC One series phone?
