Verizon documents reveal HTC Rezound Android 4.0 update scheduled for May 9th

Confidential internal Verizon documents have made their way to the web, revealing that several HTC phones should soon be updated to the latest version of Android. The first Verizon HTC phone to receive the Android 4.0 update should be the HTC Rezound. According to the documents, the update will be in testing until May 7th with the OTA scheduled for release on May 9th.

The same Verizon documents also list other HTC devices, but there is not enough detail for us to deduce if Verizon and HTC are working on Android 4.0 update for these devices or if we’re simply looking at minor maintenance releases for each device. Verizon and HTC have both confirmed that the HTC Rhyme, HTC Thunderbolt and HTC DROID Incredible 2 would all be updated to Android 4.0 – eventually.

Do you think Verizon and HTC will be able to deliver its first Android 4.0 updates in HTC phones in May or will they miss another date and be forced to postpone the updates by another month?

  1. Why update the Rezound when the most popular devices are the EVO 3D, Desire S and Desire HD. You’d think they would be tying to keep the majority of their customers happy not the minority. Don’t understand HTC at the moment.

  2. Rezound customers are just as anxious about and deserving of the update as anyone else.

  3. the delayed update for this phone has really pissed me off.
it was a major selling point. the ics update was supposed to be in “early 2012”.
    they lied.
i’m gonna do what the rest of the world is doing…
