HTC Vivid performance boosted 66% with Ice Cream Sandwich update

Previously we reported that the team over at Engadget decided to run Android 4.0 on the HTC Sensation XE using HTC Sense 3.6 and see how it stacked up against the same device running Android 2.3.  They determined that there was a significant performance boost in 3D rendering under Ice Cream Sandwich.  This was encouraging and had us curious how other HTC devices running Ice Cream Sandwich would fare.  The first results are now in.

The HTC Vivid is the first U.S. device to receive the Android 4.0 OTA and it brings encouraging news in regards to performance.  VentureBeat tested and found that the HTC Vivid had a 66% performance boost in certain tests compared to Android 2.3.  Below you see results of several benchmarking tests conducted using apps available in the Google Play store.

The one benchmark that stands out to me was the improved battery life.  When using ICS on the HTC Vivid, it appears you will receive about an hour more usage than you did with the phone running on Android 2.3. That’s great news, especially for those who own LTE enabled devices which consume power a lot faster.

We’re curious, have you received your Ice Cream Sandwich OTA update and if so, have you seen the reported performance boost on your Vivid?

  1. Problem is after upgrading to Ice Cream Sancdwich, bluetooth voice dialing is no longer possible. Has anyone heard anything? HTC is being very tight lipped about any fixes or not.
