HTC One camera performance blows away its Android competiros

HTC has been traveling the globe, showing off the camera on the HTC One and now we’re getting a look at how the phone stacks up against the competition when it comes to its performance. The HTC One X was pitted against the Sony XPERIA S and Samsung Galaxy Nexus to see which device can shoot images more quickly. It’s not a very scientific test and doesn’t really show which phone captures better pictures, but that doesn’t mean it’s not entertaining to watch.

The phones were put through three tests: sleep to snap, home to snap, and burst mode.

Competing against the Sony Xperia S, the HTC One fared well with the sleep to snap test, but it’s nearly impossible to beat Sony’s fast capture feature which opens the camera and snaps a picture in less than 1.5 second simply by holding down the dedicated shutter button. Fortunately, the tables turned during the home to snap test since the HTC camera launches extremely quickly and is able to capture an image almost instantaneously once the on-screen shutter button is pressed. The final bust mode test went completely in HTC’s favor. Simply holding down the shutter button, the HTC One X is able to capture four image per second and has a buffer system which allows the phone to capture 99 consecutive pictures.

Against the Samsung Galaxy Nexus, the HTC One X was victorious in all three tests. The Nexus feature a a similar camera unlock feature directly from the lock screen, but the camera start-up time was no match for the One X during the sleep to snap and home to snap tests. The Zero Shutter Lag feature did allow the Galaxy Nexus to capture quite a few sequential images during the burst more test, but the video will show that most of the images captures turned out blurry while the images from the HTC One X looked crisp.

The camera performance between the HTC one X , HTC One S and HTC One S will vary slightly since they feature different internal components, but they all come with a dedicated imaging sensor, a high-quality lens and HTC ImageSense technology.

What we want to see next is image quality comparisons between the HTC One and its main competitors.
