Mystery HTC handset with Android 4.0 could be new Incredible phone

The first devices of HTC’s 2012 lineup will be unveiled in a few short weeks, but now we’re getting our first look at yet another HTC device which will probably make an appearance at CTIA in May. The mysterious HTC handset currently does not have a name, but the design aesthetics indicate that we could be looking at the replacement for the HTC Incredible S which made its debut at Mobile World Congress last year. There is speculation that the handset will launch in the US market on Verizon’s network at the DROID Incredible 3 or even the HTC Fireball.

Looking at the specs, the mystery HTC phone isn’t that different than the upcoming HTC Ville. The handset is said to be powered by a 1.2 GHz dual-core processor (most likely an S4 chip from Qualcomm) with 1 GB of RAM, an 8 megapixel rear camera with LED flash, VGA camera on the front, LTE and an AMOLED display (size and resolution not yet disclosed). Like the HTC Edge and Ville, this device is running on Android 4.o (Ice Cream Sandwich) with HTC Sense 4.0.

As we stated above, we’ve not expecting this HTC handset to be unveiled at Mobile World Congress, but we could be completely wrong. HTC had a few unexpected handsets to hit the stage last year at the show in Barcelona, so anything is possible.

What are your thoughts on the mystery HTC handset? Do you prefer the contoured design of the HTC Incredible family or the uni-body aluminum styling which HTC has been using a little too much?

  1. Hi, still just 1 GB of RAM? When will HTC start to put in a decent amount of memory in their devices?
