HTC PlayStation Certified devices could be announced at Mobile World Congress

There’s a new rumor floating around this morning and it’s definitely a good one. According to an anonymous source, HTC will be the first manufacturer (other than Sony of course) to produce PlayStation Certified devices. Sony announced last fall that they would be licensing their PlayStation Certification to other OEMs, but we didn’t think HTC would jump on board this soon.

An official announcement from Sony and HTC could happen during Mobile World Congress, though the actual certification is expected for the second half of 2012 (most likely though a firmware update). We have a strong suspicion that the HTC Endeavor will be the first PlayStation Certified handset from HTC. According to Pocket-lint, the PlayStation certification will also come to existing HTC devices and tablets (most likely devices running on Qualcomm’s S3 dual-core processors).

How many of you would enjoy playing some classic PS1 games on a new Tegra 3 powered phone with a 4.7-inch 4.7 HD display? Mobile World Congress can’t come soon enough!
