HTC delivers on Honeycomb promise for HTC Flyer just in time for the holidays

HTC delivers on Honeycomb promise for HTC Flyer just in time for the holidays

HTC has finally delivered on its promise to bring Honeycomb to the HTC Flyer. In a short statement on its Facebook page, HTC announced this morning that an Android 3.x update is currently being pushed out to the GSM version of the device which can be purchased in Europe.  The 210 MB update (version 3.55.405.1) is already being pushed out across Europe,

Those who opted for the cheaper 16GB WiFi-only Flyer will have to wait a bit longer for Honeycomb, but HTC is promising that the update is on its way. The development community has been playing around with leaked pre-release versions of the Honeycomb update for months, but it’s nice to know that the general public will be able to get an update for the Flyer that actually makes the device more of a tablet and less of a glorified phone.
Ready for some ‘sweet’ news? The GSM version of the HTC Flyer tablet, available in Europe, is beginning to receive updates to Honeycomb beginning today! Honeycomb brings a ton of improvements to Android on tablets, including the latest version of HTC Sense for Tablet with enhanced Internet browsing, Mail, Calendar and more all optimized for the 7″ screen. Not to be outdone, the WiFi version of the HTC Flyer will receive its Honeycomb update soon, too! Stay tuned for more details.
If you have already gotten the Honeycomb update (or have played around with the leaked builds) for the HTC flyer, leave us a comment below and let us know what you think of the new UI and all the tablet specific apps that are now accessible in the Android Market.
