HTC Vigor? Is it or is it not a Droid?

HTC Vigor? Is it or is it not a Droid?

We have heard a lot about the HTC Vigor in it’s codenamed state, but it gets more and more misleading. The Vigor was thought to be part of the Droid Incredible family. Droid is a fairly US centric for a series of smartphones from HTC. Motorola also had some devices with the Droid branding. Mostly it revolved around branding and splash screens, and some very high end phones. Verizon have cleverly taken the little green robot, given it a big red eye, and marketed a heap of top end smartphones under the Droid banner. It’s sort of been assumed that the Vigor would be an addition to the droid family, A.K.A the Droid Incredible HD. What are we actually looking at though,a device with a 720p HD display with a 1280 x 720 pixel resolution. The device is expected to sport a 1.5GHz dual-core processor, 1GB of RAM, 16GB of on board storage, a 2-megapixel front-facing camera, and an 8-megapixel rear-facing camera. It will run HTC Sense 3.5 UI on top of Android 2.3 Gingerbread. As more info filters through, it seems the Vigor is also carrying 4G or LTE radio technology, and is also following HTC’s trend since it acquired an interest in Beats Technology, an advanced audio user experience.

Boot screens from the phone confirm at least good sound and good speed, and of course the network it will debut on. Maybe for the network debut! Whatever the Vigor ends up being called, it’s definitely a prodigious device, with a rumor cycle that is over and above the normal life of guesswork. There being no real announcement, and  a speculated release date around the 11th of October, I suppose we have to wait for a Droid to make a monumental entrance, or a toy robot to need a wind up. Is the Vigor looking like your next HTC phone? or is there a little bit too much cloak and dagger, isn’t it time the phone was officially revealed?

Being a elder and digitally declined . I had to get a smartphone for work. After much debate I chose the d. Incredible. Thank-you HTC your UI has walked me so gently in to this new era of information. You have skills. So the original incredible was your flagship and should always be.

  2. Thanks for the story Bill, glad Sense took you on a gentle ride, and that you love your Incredible :)
