HTC Ruby Leaks Again, More Like a Diamond![pictures]

As the ruby firms up, heading for it’s October launch date, more leaks surface. The thing about the Ruby is that it’s packing a huge punch, a 1.5 GHz Dual core Qualcomm processor with 1 Gb of Ram. It’s been fairly well confirmed that it’s arriving, and it’s a really high end device with an eight mega pixel camera, 1.3 mega pixel front facing camera, 4.3” qHD [960 x 540] display. It makes the Sensation look a little slow, which leads to it being dubbed the Amaze. It will have support for 4G networks in the US, and what we are talking about there is download speeds of up to 42 Mbps, doubling 3G HSPDA speeds.

There’s nothing but a tempting look at a device that may still be a pre production prototype, also I’d say there’s a really bad protective case on the device pictured above. For what’s meant to be a super powerful, amazing phone, design detail doesn’t show us much different than what we are used to with HTC devices.

The second image shows the phone with the rubber bumper off, and it looks a lot better, notice the detail in the earpiece grill, and the forward facing camera moved further towards the center of the phone. It seems to be distinctively curved, and the micro usb port is in an uncharacteristic position. While officially over a month away, this is the sort of traditional leak pattern that HTC employs with their devices.

If you haven’t been living under a rock, it looks like the last part of 2011 is turning into a CPU contest, mines bigger than yours. Dual core smartphones have already arrived, Galaxy S II, LG Optimus, soon the iPhone 5 or whatever it will be called. Right now we are experiencing a hardware pissing contest, OEM’s are selling devices that are being superseded with even more alacrity, to a consumer base that expect an ever speedier internet experience on their smartphones. The trade off, carry a charger. I find myself wondering if battery technology can keep up, or are we going to be hamstrung by cables, and charging units if we want to early adopt on this new generation of smartphones??
