Leaked pictures show HTC Omega comes in white

While a white phone from HTC is not a first, the first white Windows Phone from HTC running Mango – the HTC Omega - is looking pretty good in it’s coat and tails. Leaked press shots have emerged, that show a similar design to current HTC handsets, unibody aluminium construction, with a silver finish, as opposed to the darker greys that have dominated for a while. The white inserts, plastic covers that enclose the top and bottom (battery cover) on the HTC Omega  help to emphasize the brighter metallic finish of the phone. I know I’ve mentioned the HTC Mazaa quite a bit and am more convinced than ever that it was a prototype, meant for testing and preview of Mango early pre release. Will it ever materialise as a real HTC device? We’ll just have to wait and see.

The Mazaa looked like a hybrid of the Trophy and the Mozart while the Omega looks a lot more like the little brother of the HTC Flyer. The white actually looks crisp and defines the 3.7” screen really well, although the sensor array and what we now know to be a forward facing camera stand out. Seems like the volume rocker has been left out in this render, although it’s almost hinted at in the front view of the phone. I look at this render and see a winner, and some changes that are Interesting. Compared to the Mozart, the HTC Omega has less glass on the front, although the phone is a little taller. Possibly moving the capacitive controls closer to the main screen will reduce the amount of random search activation and random button presses. With rumored specs that include a 1.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM8255, and 512 Mb of Ram, I think I could overlook the colour, in fact I like it. The very subtle design changes, draw me to it. Counting down to September First.
