HTC EVO Design 4G and HTC Acquire outed by leaked Kingdom RUU

Here we go again!  The official RUU for the HTC Kingdom has shown up on the web, revealing the handsets build properties, a new image and two new names for the phone.  We reported last month that the HTC Kingdom would be heading to Sprint’s 4G network as the HTC Hero 4G.  The name seemed appropriate since the HTC Hero was the first Android phone for Sprint and it’s always nice when phone names are kept alive.  But that’s not the case this time around.  Sprint has chosen to brand the Kingdom with the EVO moniker, naming the phone the HTC EVO Design 4G.  We’re not sure why they chose the Design name, but it look like we may have the first EVO phone without those ridiculous circles around the capacitive buttons under the screen.  The RUU also revealed that Alltel will probably be launching the phone as the HTC Acquire.

The HTC Kingdom build.prop file within the RUU confirmed most of the specs that we’re been aware of for some time.

  • Android 2.3.4
  • 4″ qHD (540 x 960) display
  • 1.2 GHz Snapdragon S2 (MSM7x30)
  • 768 MB RAM
  • 5 MP rear camera, 1.3 MP front camera
  • Bluetooth 3.0 & WiFI 802.11 b/g/n
  • Support for 4G HSPA+

The HTC EVO Design 4G or HTC Acquire may not be the most advanced Android phone to launch this fall, but we’re assuming that the internal components will warrant a low price, hopefully somewhere around the $100 mark.  Now all we need is official launch dates from Sprint and Alltel and we can call it a day.

Thanks Markus D for the tip!
