This is a bit of a kick in the guts for Verizon customers who bought the phone in good faith, that they would receive the Gingerbread update eventually. Whatever happened when the initial rollout started, some users had a bad experience, the update has been with held for further testing. As with any OTA update there are always risks associated with connection quality, network coverage etc; for the update to start and then be pulled indicates any amount of problems. All this info comes from the Verizon support forums. There’s no word on the issues experienced as yet, just that the update has been halted for further testing.

Everyone, I apologize for the inconvenience, but the update has been delayed. Our product team is going through more testing. Once we know for sure when the update is coming, we will post more info.

Hopefully this is a minor hiccough for the process, and Verizon can break the silence and let people know what exactly is happening. There’s nothing worse than waiting for something that you know is so close to being available.
