HTC Wildfire S announced for T-Mobile, will launch August 3rd for $80.

For those on T-Mobile looking for an Android phone on a budget, look no further than the HTC Wildfire S, launching August 3rd for $79.99 after $50 mail-in rebate with a 2-year contract. Featuring a 3.2-inch, 320×480 display, HSDPA 3G technology, 512MB RAM and 512MB internal memory, a 5MP camera with flash and autofocus, and a 600mhz processor, this won’t be the best phone out there, but it will be among the cheapest phones available. The HTC Wildfire S will be running Android 2.3 (Gingerbread), featuring HTC Sense and the Swype virtual keyboard, which is a pretty uncommon feature in the under-$100 price range. The phone will come in both a white and black finish, with the white being exclusive to T-Mobile stores while black will be available from Walmart and Sam’s Club, as well as T-Mobile’s website.

This won’t be drawing the attention of experienced Android users, but for those just starting with Android or those on a budget, it should be a good place to start.
