Official: T-Mobile myTouch 4G Slide to launch in July for $199

T-Mobile has just announced the new myTouch 4G Slide. We’re known about the handset for quite some time, but we now have on official spec sheet, launch timing and price.  The official specs of the myTouch 4G Slide include a four row QWERTY keyboard, 3.7-inch WVGA super LCD display, dual-core 1.2 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, 8 megapixel camera, and a front-facing camera for video chat all running on Android 2.3 with a modified version of HTC Sense 3.0.

Pricing on the myTouch 4G Slide is set at $199.99 after a $50 mail-in rebate for those willing to sign a two year contract.  T-Mobile has not given us an exact launch date, but we now know that the myTouch 4G Slide will be available in July in black and khaki.

While many will think of the QWERTY keyboard as the myTouch 4G’s killed feature, T-Mobile and HTC are really highlighting the camera on the handset.  According to T-Mobile the myTouch 4G Slide is perfect for “capturing that perfect moment with photos that rival high-end dedicated digital cameras.” Below are some of the highlights of the camera on the myTouch 4G Slide.

  • Improved low-light Performance: with a backside illuminated sensor and a wide aperture lens (f/2.2)
  • Zero shutter lag: innovative software features allow for an instantaneous shot at that precise moment
  • SweepShot: for capturing panoramic shots by sweeping across an entire scene in a single motion
  • ClearShot HDR: for capturing objects in bright settings so your photos are not affected by high-contrast lighting
  • BurstShot: for capturing multiple photos in a quick burst so you don’t miss the perfect photo

In addition to some pretty nice features in the camera, the myTouch 4G Slide will come preloaded with Netflix, Qik, Swype, and Group Text by Bobsled along with T-Mobile TV, T-Mobile KidZone and the infamous Genius Button powered by Dragon Diction.

Some will dismiss the myTouch 4GSlide as just another mediocre handset under the myTouch brand, but don’t be fooled.  The new 4G Slide has top of the line specs (comparable to the HTC Sensation and EVO 3D) and some nice camera improvements which should really help the phone stand out from the crowd.  We’re also hoping that the myTouch 4G Slide will truly show what Qualcomm’s dual-core 1.2 GHz processors are truly capable of.  The HTC EVO 3D and Sensation’s benchmark number have been less than stellar, but we should see some noticeable improvements on the 4G Slide with its WVGA resolution display.

So, are any of you myTouch 3G Slide owners turning green with envy?  We’re not sure how many of you are actually interested in another myTouch branded handset, but we’re thoroughly impress with the specs that HTC has crammed into this phone. Leave us a comment and let us know if the myTouch 4G slide gets a thumbs up or thumbs down.

  1. I like this a lot…. but, any rumors, signs of whats so ever on the doubleshot to come to europe (the Netherlands) anytime soon?

  2. The myTouch 4D Slide is exclusive T-mobile USA product. HTC may alter the handset design to launch in Europe as well, but there are currently no indications that such a product is in the works

  3. This phone looks like it is all about speed! I am really excited to get a MyTouch 4G Slide! I mean with a super fast camera, a dual-core processor, and 4G, this phone should have no problem streaming and downloading. I am a big movie person, so being able to watch them anywhere I am is a must. That is why I have the DISH Remote Access app. I love this app because it lets me stream live TV and recorded shows to my phone anywhere I am! I love being able to go anywhere I want and be able to stream live TV or recorded shows from my 922 SlingLoaded receiver to my phone. As a customer and employee of DISH Network, I have been using the app for a long time and it is one of the best apps I have. I encourage anyone and everyone to take a look at http://www.besttvforme.com to get all the information on starting an account to get your TV Everywhere! I am sure the DISH Remote Access app will work wonders on the MyTouch 4G Slide when I get it!

  4. Man I hope HTC/T-Mobile will bring this puppy to Europe/the Netherlands…It’s the only upcoming Gingerbread QWERTY-slider that that I truely want. If the keyboard is anything like the one on my TouchPro 2 it will be killer. The SE Xperia Pro will be borderline obsolete when it finally shows up in october with the single core processor and 512MB of RAM and the Motorola Droid/Milestone 3 also only has 512MB RAM with a PenTile screen I’m not ecstatic about. These 3 are the only new android sliders coming up, if I’m correct…More love for us qwerty-lovers would be highly appreciated 🙂
