Video: Windows phone 7 NoDo on the HTC HD2

So it looks like I’ve found my weekend project. The guys over at XDA Developers are at it again, as YukiXDA has ported the 7.0.7392 build of Windows Phone 7, the latest released update to the HTC HD2.  Seems the old warhorse “takes a licking and keeps on ticking”. There’s no question that the HD2 was revolutionary for it’s time, and to HTC’s credit it still holds it’s own with the current set of devices running Windows Phone 7. In fact, I’ve dropped mine without any adverse effects. In comparison, the HD7, the one pictured below, shattered a week after I got it, with a rather inconsequential drop, from about one foot. Literally, if you try to bend the HD7, you can see it flex, where the solid aluminium shell of the HD2 is not elastic at all. It’s no surprise that developers have been able to utilise that impressive bit of hardware, and make it possible to run Android on it, but Windows phone on the HD2, smoking!

WindowsPhoneHacker uploaded a video of the latest NoDo rom for the HD2, earlier today, and it looks smooth, and really functional. Also the OP at XDA posted an extensive tutorial as to how you could go about creating the ROM for yourself. There’s also a custom theme included in the build, that allows for transparency, in some of the major features of Windows Phone, like the lock screen, and the notification bar.

Besides another good look at the NoDo functionality, speed is also evident, I really need to take the time to get this up and running on my HD2.
