HTC takes a second look at their bootloader policy

Still have issues with HTC’s decision to encrypt the bootloaders on the HTC Sensation and HTC EVO 3D?  Things could get better, much better.  Due to the overwhelming consumer outcry, HTC plans on revisiting their bootloader policy so that they can get the issue under control.  In the past, HTC’s bene pretty open and accepting of the development community with the devices, so we’re really not sure why they would choose to lock down their phones when companies like SONY Ericsson and Samsung are shifting their strategy to encourage and even help developers use their handsets as they  please.

We’re not sure what the outcome of HTC’s bootloader policy will be, but we can almost guarantee that nothing will change before the T-Mobile launches the HTC Sensation in just a few weeks.  If HTC’s policy does change, they should have a way to unlock the bootloader via an update for anyone who has already purchased the phone.

Thanks so much for providing feedback, we hear your concerns. Your satisfaction is a top priority for us and we’re working hard to ensure you have great experiences with our phones. We’re reviewing the issue and our policy around bootloaders and will provide more information soon. Thank you for your interest, support and willingness to share your feedback.
