Rumor: Android 2.3 update coming to the EVO 4G and Thunderbolt before Q3

HTC has made it pretty clear that they have plan to roll out Android 2.3 to quite a few of their handsets. This this is great news for some, but HTC’s Android update confirmation has only applied to GSM versions of their Desire phones which are available on Europe and Asia. So what about those of us in the U.S with phones like the EVO 4G and the new Thunderbolt.

Well, it turns out that an HTC customer asked that question and got a response from someone at HTC. The response from HTC is pretty similar to what we predicted when HTC confirmed that Android 2.3 would be coming to the HTC Desire family. The HTC EVO 4G and the HTC Thunderbolt will most likely receive an update to Android 2.3 by the end of June.

We know that the time frame is a bit vague, but HTC is simply trying to play it safe so that people don’t get pissed at them is care they miss a specific launch date. If you want the full details about the email from HTC, head on over to Talk Android
